While it’s not mandatory, taking the After Loss Professional Training course is highly recommended. The course is designed to accelerate your readiness and effectiveness in the field, equipping you with the necessary knowledge and skills. Furthermore, our Self-Study course option allows you to learn at your own pace, thanks to its on-demand, self-study format.

Artificial intelligence is not expected to replace after loss professionals due to the inherently human aspect of the job. The profession requires empathy, understanding, and problem-solving skills that AI can enhance but not replicate. In addition, many of the organizations that after loss professionals interact with require interaction with humans, and they change their requirements and processes. This makes it difficult to develop a tool that can navigate these challenges. This role involves addressing deeply personal and emotional needs, which are best handled by human professionals.

The cost to enroll in After Loss Professional Training (self study) is $1,997 USD per person for non-members and is not shareable or transferable. We also offer a payment plan of $700/month for three months. This investment gives you access to all course content and resources for a full year.

The entire program is based online so you can participate from anywhere. The curriculum includes 2-3 hours of pre-recorded courses and homework each week. We're excited that we now have a completely self-paced online version of the program! In the hybrid option (in the Spring), there is a live Zoom meeting every Friday with PALS founders, which is typically an hour for discussion, feedback, and questions. All course materials and additional resources are available within our online member portal.
